Photographer's Note

Caraça is a Natural Park; it is distant 431 km from Rio de Janeiro or 101 km from Belo Horizonte (MG). The church ( Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens) had its building concluded in 1779. Inside it there is a roman soldier mummy: Saint Pio Martyr, nice stained glass windows and a old pipe organ. All the nights, a ritual happens: the priests feed Guará wolves giving pieces of meat at hand. The seminary and school was founded by Portuguese priests and it was famous due to rigid discipline. Most of intellectual elite brazilian studied here, including five brazilian presidents. In 1968 a fire destroyed the school. The ruins were turned into inn and cultural center.
