Photographer's Note

The building that housed the former Secretary of Finance has been designed in architectural and aesthetic standards of the eclectic, reflecting the French influence in architecture prevailing during the period of construction of the new capital of Minas Gerais. The bill is authored by engineer José de Magalhães geographer from the State of Pernambuco, and interior design, created by the German artist and painter, Frederick Anthony Steckel. The former Secretary of Finance was established on the alignment of the road, on land of rectangular shape at the corner of Liberty Square with street Goncalves Dias. The main access to the building is given by the Liberty Square. The building fits with other contemporary buildings in Liberty Square, the volumetric aspects of scale, symmetrical composition and rhythm of solids and voids. Currently the building houses the Memorial of Minas Gerais Vale.
