Photographer's Note

Passion´s nice to eat and to appreciate it´s flowers, "Passiflora edulis sims".
In portuguese, passion fruit's name is "maracujá" (from the brazilian indian's Tupi language). So, "flor de maracujá" is the brazilian name for the passion flower. It likes the hot weather from the tropics.
But if you think that it´s name came from any hot passion between some couples, you´re wrong. It´s passion name came from the Christ Passion!!!
Well, when the portugueses arrived in Brazil (1500), there was some Jesuits aboard. Considering it was Easter season, they called the first land they saw "Monte Pascal", or Easter Mount, or Paschal Mount. It was the season for many "maracujás" in Brazil, so they give to it the name of Passion Fruit. Christ Passion!
Exactly 506 years after the Jesuits had discovered their passion flower, I´m happy to show you my "flor de maracujá". Hope you like it...
All the best!
