Gemini, a photo from Parana, South

Photographer's Note

Here is another one from my lightning´s serie. This time we can see twins, just over the sea. It´s from the same place, Caiobá, south of Brazil, and I had the chance to catch it from my apartment´s balcony. The colour, this time blue, is different from the last post, purple, maybe because the lightnings are stronger, double, and closer, making more light. I hope you like it. Cheers!

this is an amazing shot. very well captured.

the double lightning bolts add an amazing symetry. and you're right, this is much more effective than the single bolt you posted earlier.

a brilliant photo. very, very well done!

Hi Jose - it's like an electric dance; the blue/purple (instead of black) makes this shot so original and dramatic, and also of course the sea, with the colors, reflections; the sea actually looks so calm relative to the violent thunders! and to think you saw and shot all this from your apartment...Thanks for sharing! Wow. That a shot that I still want to try in the future. I red somewhere that photographer use the mode "B" of exposure, close the aperture and wait a lot for the lightning. Once you got it with a 2 seconds exposure, I bet you tried a lot of times until this (and the previous one) successful picture was captured. Well, I know very well how is a rainy day when you are on the beach... nothing else to do! I hope your "caipirinha" was good, when waiting for the lightning to come :-).

Great effect with these two strong lights, and they make nice reflections in the sea. One wonders how it looks where they strike the water. Could you take that shot for us next time ;-)

This is a fascinating picture. The blue colour of the sea and the sky is so lovely and unique that I could not take my eyes from it for several minutes and also the lightening has doubled the beauty of it. I think this picture moves even the most indifferent viewers and makes them to think about the wonders and beauties of nature.

Hi Jose,

I found it hard to choose from your impressive gallery but this one of the double lightening strike won the day because of its brightness, colour and symmetry of the lightening bolts. A really superb capture and one for my favourites.

Hello Zeca,

I join the chorus of admirers of you photo, "Gemini" (well named as well). Many years ago I met a physicist who was studying lightnings, and he had a light detector connected to his camera, so that when bright flash occurred, immediately the camera shutter would open, and record as many as a dozen lightnings in the same frame. But you appear to have replaced the electronic light detector with your eyes and quick reflexes. Warm regards,

Again, a superb shot! Very well done. Lightening shots have now become my favorite. Shame we don't get many storms here. The blues in the photo are so beautiful. I like how the sea even has what looks like ripples from the lightening strike and the bright reflection just under the right lightening bolt on the water .
