Photographer's Note

One more bird for TE and for my new site:

The red-legged seriema (Cariama cristata) is quite common in all regions of Brazil, with the exception of the North. It walks on the ground, in pairs or in small flocks. If pursued, it runs away, leaving to fly only if pressed hard, reaching speeds of over 50 km/h before taking off. Tired, it flies short stretches before landing and running again. It lives in couples, being more easily heard than observed. Its singing is striking, resembling a long laugh, and can be heard for over 1 km.
