Photographer's Note

And to finish my series of birds of the Pantanal, and taking this opportunity to inaugurate a new theme with my bird photos, a tree loaded with wood storks (Mycteria americana), a quite common stork in the region.

With a predominantly white plumage and bare and black head, it is not as large as the jabiru, but it can reach up to 1 meter in height. Where food is plentiful, it congregates in groups, sometimes enormous, usually along with herons. The nests can be extensive. Generally silent, in the colony it gives grunts.
