JUSTICE PALACE, a photo from Distrito Federal, Center-West

Photographer's Note

The Justice Palace (where works the minister of Justice) was inaugurated in 1972, it is another masterpiece of Niemeyer. It is located near the National Congress, few meters far from Planalto Palace, in the edge of the Big Axis, making a pair with the Itamaraty Palace, located in the other side of the Big Axis.
Itamaraty and Justice Palace are something similar, but they have many differences. Anyway, probably you never saw a building with cascades included like this. I tried to take photos of it three times, even at night, and I didn't get a nice photo.

O Palácio da Justiça foi inaugurado em 1972 e é outra obra prima de Niemeyer. Está localizado próximo do Congresso e do Palácio do Planalto, às margens do Eixão, fazendo par com o Palácio do Itamaraty, que fica diante dele, do outro lado do Eixão.
Os dois prédios se parecem, mas tem muitas diferenças. Provavelmente você jamais verá um prédio com cascatas inclusas na fachada como esse.

Hello Jorge,
No, I probably never saw a building with this kind of cascades. It's very original and I'm not sure if I find it beautiful, but it's an interesting photo of one of the perhaps less internationally famous buildings in Brasilia.

Very impressive structure but you are right it is hard to present it well. Sometimes you really need some help from the nature. If the light is extraordinary, everything is transformed.

It looks like a modern version of the old Hittite buildings which had to channel water away from the roof and walls with such means as they were made of adobe mud bricks. Tfs
