I walked not so much from the fences of Alvorada Palace, in the way I saw the most rich hotel of Brasília, where most of foreign presidents stay, and finally I found the MAB (The Art Museum of Brasília).
The building was created in 1961 and used as a bar, restaurant, military club, night club, ball room, etc.. In 1985 this museum was created with donations and this building was used to keep these artworks but the building had troubles and the artworks were moved to another place and the restoration delayed many years, a real shame. The museum was finally installed in the building again last year and I visited it.
I liked a lot the simplicity of the shapes and the beauty of the building, this modernist box created by an architect who worked with Niemeyer. Outside you can see the big sculptures. The collection is made of modern Brazilian art, you can find most of important names inside, you can find nice pieces of art, but no one is so iconic.
Brasília is a big town, the level of culture and income is very high, but to create a big art museum as São Paulo or Rio you should have more time. Anyway I liked it a lot.

Caminhei algumas centenas de metros, saindo das cercas do Alvorada até o hotel mais famoso da cidade, onde se hospedam os presidentes estrangeiros, poucos metros depois estava o MAB (Museu de Arte de Brasília).
O prédio foi criado em 1961 e serviu de boate, bar, restaurante, clube militar e salão de baile. Em 1985 o museu foi criado com doações e instalado nesse prédio, mas a construção tinha sérios problemas e enquanto era restaurada o acervo foi para outro local. A obra de restauro durou muitos anos, uma verdadeira vergonha e, finalmente, em 2021 o museu voltou à sua casa.
Gostei da beleza e da simplicidade da arquitetura do prédio, criado por um assistente de Niemeyer. O acervo tem uma série de nomes bem famosos da arte moderna brasileira, obras muito bonitas e interessantes, mas nenhuma peça icônica. Apesar da cidade ter um alto nível de cultura e renda é necessário mais tempo para se alcançar o nível dos museus como SP e Rio. De qualquer maneira eu gostei muito do acervo.
