Photographer's Note
Another one of those photos that manage to slip under my scanning radar...This one was taken on the second evening of our Salar tour outside the little village of San Jose...Me and my friend walked outside to see and capture the wild sunset when all of a sudden we saw in the distance a herd of Alpacas move on the hill in front of us...With little light as possible, we snapped what we could make of the last rays of sun...
PS - At first glance I was sure the picture is blurry (due to hand shake) but then when I took a closer look I saw that the fuzziness is actually the side effect of the breaking sunrays around the contour of the Alpaca's bodies..
PP: Crop, NeatImage, LCE and levels on the dark lower part of the frame
A note about the noise - This film with another 6 were damage while en route to Israel by airmail (squashed by an unknown heavy object). As a consequence, most pictures suffer from noise, some from pictures also suffer from inappropriate exposure, light rays and even worse. Some even did not make it to the lab at all...so, sorry for that

Chen, excellent presentation!! The silo of the alpacas against the sunset looks like a movie scene... Usually when I scan images I set them for 300 dpi and after post-processing I save them a 72dpi for the web as a separate file. Maybe that can help you avoid the noise in the sky.

It is too bad it is a bit fuzzy, but the composition is great and it is a wonderful view of these animals agains the sunset. NeatImage would clean the noise from the sky. I think I will try...

Great shot. i'm sorry that it had such a hard time coming into being. Being on the road is not easy on photographic equipment. The light is, of course, fantastic, and the compo is very good. I'm not so bothered about the lack of sharpness but the noise is a real shame. Tough luck! The panoramic format works very well for you but, to my eye, the framing (especially the white bars) is quite distracting.
Cheers,
Mikkel

what bluriness...I don't see any bluriness. All I see is a perfect shot, alpacas and all. I also love the frame you added. Excellent job.

this is a superb image. the silhouette of the hill is great. the sunset colours are great and make a very nice contrast against the sharp black. aside from a little fuzziness, this is a great shot ... well done!

hi chen,
interesting image, i like the creative approach to the crop: the image looks wide this creating an impression that the whole scene was taking place in a vast area;
nice, really nice;

Hi Chen. A lovely sunset scene from Chile, where the cinemascope format is well chosen to present the silhouetted details in front of the vivid colorful spectacle in the sky. The alpaca silhouettes make it special and charming.

Wow, Chen. That's a good shot. The outlines of the herd is excellent. I like that they're at the base of a hill. So much more interesting than a level plane. Nice work.

Beautifully evocative image Chen - this is such a nice capture of these animals in their environment - so sorry to hear about your films - I had a bad experience of two weeks of taking some 800 arty B&W photographs in a mountain environment a few years ago only to find the internal light meter had packed up - very few images were OK - so sad!!
take care kev
