Photographer's Note

I saw this woman while on the summit of the Cerro Calvario; she stood at a distance with her back to me, looking out towards the lake. At the time my camara was atop my fully-extended tripod, as I had just taken several shots that I later hoped to stitch together for a panorama. Thus, it was not easy to move all of my things without attracting some attention, but I took care as I wanted to shoot a natural scene. The key also was not to bother anyone, since it was a relatively quiet place and the people were very modest; in fact, I occasionally saw people cover their face with their hand or hat when seeing a camera-wielding tourist approach. With this in mind, I extended the lens to full zoom and luckily the woman turned for an instant, giving me the opportunity I was looking for to take the photo that you see here.

I find her contemplative expression extremely interesting, it is a face that seems to tell a long story, and I am glad to have had the opportunity to photograph her. The only minor thing I would have changed would be to have been able to see more of her long braids, which are hanging over her chest and out of sight.
