Photographer's Note

Something about this man made me stop and ask him if I might be able to take his photo. He, as most Bolivians tend to do, asked what it would be used for; they're very suspicious of being treated like an exotic species by foreigners with cameras --- with no real benefit for them. I explained that I wanted to have vivid recollections of the people that I have come to be impressed with. Vivid collections of the people that make up the human fabric of the country. He reluctantly consented and then put me on an invisible timer : 20 seconds and we were done. Good guy. Just a few montsh ago, I sent a copy of this photo to him thru someone who was visiting his small town.
