In the Aymara tradition there are many rituals and superstition that require different offerings to "Pachamama", Mother Earth. When a new house is being built you may see the Aymara priest, or "Yatiri" performing a blessing upon the building site, thereby burying a dead Lama fetus as a sacrifice to Mother Earth. That will mean Pachamama is receiving back what she gave to us, that is Life.
