Photographer's Note

The Capilla de Velas (Chapel of Candles) in la Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Copacabana. This small chapel is in a dark crypt below the main church. there is an element of Santa's Grotto to it - as the candles have melted, worshippers have used the molten wax to construct pictures of the objects of their prayers/desires on the smoky walls; it is full of wax pictures of houses, cars, children, farm animals, etc.

The 'doll' in the photo, being carried by the young boy, is an image of the Virgin of Copacabana who is in the main Basilica (well, allegedly she is everywhere in Bolivia, but her statue is here).

No flash was used, the candles were the only light source in the chapel. Another of my very, very high ISO shots
