USA have the White House and Argentina has the Pink House (Casa Rosada). Similarly to the White House, Casa Rosada is also the official seat of the president (however Argentinian President normally resides at Quinta de Olivos). The pink color of the building is sometimes attributed to the Presidents Sarmiento’s attempt to make peace between red Federalists and white Unitarists during his 1868-1874 term. Another theory is that the color comes from painting the palace with bovine blood which was a common practice in the late 19th century (source: lonely planet). From the balconies of this house spoke to Argentineans famous Eva Peron (Evita) or impersonating her Madonna. Also late Pope John Paul II preached from there. Casa Rosada is located at the eastern end of the Plaza de Mayo.
