Photographer's Note

I took this street signal today, in the old house of opposite of mine.
Although it is damaged is possible to be read the following thing:
Warrior of independence
Hero of Junín.
Acted in the Guardia del Monte organizing 17º Cavalry regiment for the campaign of Brazil, year 1826.

The Portuguese occupied the Eastern Band. A congress is made, which solves that the Eastern Band comprised of Brazil and "Cisplatina Province" was denominated. The independence of Brazil takes place and the troops who occupied the Eastern Band divide in two grupos:
A sector supports to Brasil, another sector supports to Portugal.
Afraid confrontation both side, Great Britain offers their mediation.
In the battle of Sarandi the Brazilians are defeated.
Time later, Lavalleja is named governor and reincorporated the Eastern Band to last the United Provinces .
This was engaged in problems to Argentina with Brazil, that declared the war to him the December 10, 1825 because of already mentioned. Argentina helped the Eastern Band so that it became independent from Brazil, but time later, is gotten up to the United Provinces. Brazil was better constituted, had a square to maintain a blockade in the port of Buenos Aires and to cause the economic asphyxia of the country, on the other hand, despite the recent confrontations happened in the country, its political nucleus was more homogenous and its economic resources, although they were not overflowing, were sufficient to be able to support this war.
Two first encounter in Bacacay and Ombú were favorable, but the decisive battle occurred February, 20 in Ituzaingó where the Argentineans prevailed. Although was gain the victory, this one could not be taken advantage of since they did not count on the necessary resources and the Brazilians scattered themselves by the interior without power to be persecuted by the Argentine troops. This victory left to the Argentine army owner of the territory, but in impossibility to follow the offensives.
Brown had as objective to reduce the naval capacity of the Brazilian fleet and to harm their commercial activities. The Brazilian square blocked the River of La Plata from December 1825. defeat brazilians and reinforced his army with enemy ships.
In 1826 English minister Lord Ponsomby arrives at Buenos Aires, with the purpose of mediating between both countries. England was interested in the pacification to maintain its commercial relations with Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The mediation would be done accepting independence of the Eastern Band and the free navigation of the rivers, important questions for the mercantile activities of Great Britain in the region. Buenos Aires was in agreement with the conditions since it did not have left another exit, had to finalize the war as rapidly as possible because the internal and financial situation of the country was untenable. Argentina loses to the Eastern Band.
Uruguay is free in 1834.
