Photographer's Note

This was taken in La Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is where prominent, wealthy Argentinians like Eva Peron get buried. I went there on a very dreary, cloudy day. Due to the country's recent economic crisis, some of the families have not been able to afford the upkeep of the mausoleums. The glorious architecture in slight disrepair, I think, adds to the feeling of melancholy and yearning for the past.

I'm not a big fan of cemeteries but this place is just amazing. If you get the chance, go. It really is an incredible place to visit and photograph.

Technical details: Taken using an automatic digital camera. Post processing: changed to sepia. Cropped slightly, sharpened and resized.
