Photographer's Note

This was taken at Temaiken zoo (some 50 kilometers north of Buenos Aires).

It is the city newest zoological garden and built in a rather open manner, with large premises for the animals. They also participate in reproduction of species (like white tigers) that are only breeding in zoos, or like in the case of flamingoes, in programs that end in the releasing of the animals in their natural environments.

When I got this photo, in autumn, the sun had just set… it was the magic hour and the light very special.

The birds were quiet and preparing to sleep… and I liked the contrast of the pink feathers and bluish water and rocks.

I took some shots with different compositions and focal lengths, but in the end I preferred this one, since what caught my eye was the bird’s posture.
