Photographer's Note

I could not say that I really like tango. But I was born in Buenos Aires and I love that city… it is my place.

And the anecdote is that when I am away (like now), tango is one of the memories that come to my mind. I also know that if I had to write a musical score for Buenos Aires, tango would surely be a part of it.

Then, for my first Buenos Aires photo something related to tango.

There are a lot of places in the city where street dancers will try to entertain passers by, and Plaza Dorrego in the heart of San Telmo neighborhood is one of them.

On the other hand, one of the things I like of Buenos Aires is that ‘cafe culture’… the fact of sitting at a table with friends… or a book… or a camera… and talking for hours, or reading… or simply watching life go by… And the streets cafés in Plaza Dorrego are also great for this…

Specially if it is a sunny Saturday afternoon, in autumn (my favorite time of the year in BA)… and near to you are some hats waiting for the tango dancers to wear them so that they can start the show… (At least in the mind of a lot of performers, tango has to have hats to be danced)…

Then… hats are a symbol of tango, which is a symbol of my city…

(Mmm… this is getting too complicated ;-) !)
