Here a skyline photo took from the top of the hotel I was hosted. Here we can see the Recoleta district buildings (forground) and Palermo district (background).

Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina. It is located on the western shore of the estuary of the Río de la Plata, on the southeastern coast of the South American continent.

The Greater Buenos Aires conurbation, which also includes several Buenos Aires Province districts, constitutes the third-largest conurbation in Latin America, with a population of around thirteen million.

In 1880, after decades of political infighting, Buenos Aires was federalised and removed from Buenos Aires Province. The city limits were enlarged to include the towns of Belgrano and Floresy. The 1994 constitutional amendment granted the city autonomy, hence its formal name: Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires).

Buenos Aires is rated one of the 20 largest cities in the world. Argentina has the second best quality of life in Latin America and is ranked at 61st in the world.

It is the most visited city in South America (ahead of Rio de Janeiro) and the second most visited city across Latin America (behind Mexico City).

Buenos Aires is a top tourist destination, and is known for its European style architecture and rich cultural life, with the highest concentration of theatres in the world.

Buenos Aires is the birthplace of the current Roman Pontiff, Pope Francis and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. And the city will host the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.
