Nattai National Park starts just beyond our street so we can walk into it. These 2 photos, however, were taken father to the north in an area known as Wattle Ridge.
The floral emblem of New South Wales is the waratah and plenty grow around here. The biggest problem is that they like tucked away places and are often only seen from afar. These ones were near the road and that brings another problem - despite it being illegal to pick them they do get picked and sold.
The photo on the left was taken a few days before the right hand one and when I went back with my macro lens, for a better photo, the 2 outer flowers had been picked. At least they left the centre one for me.
Taking photos of them can be tricky because they are so red making full detail hard to show.
