When we drove out to the Meryla section of the nearby Morton National Park the road took us through a badly burnt area, burnt in the fires of January last year.
Most of the trees in these 2 photos are ironbarks (a eucalypt). They have hard bark that doesn't shed, so well over a year later the trunks are all still very black from the fires.
However, as you can see, these trees do generally recover from the fires with new growth all up the trunks. There is another photo of them in the WS.
