The Art Gallery of NSW overlooks Woolloomooloo Bay in Sydney. This photo was taken from inside one of the galleries looking out over the bay. Running up the middle of the bay is a finger wharf now home to expensive apartments and yachts. Beyond that is the Garden Island naval base.
Just outside the window near the large crane is a construction site where a massive extension to the art gallery is being built.
The sculpture on the right is of Captain Cook, the famous English explorer who explored much of the Pacific ocean.
Contrary to European and white Australian myths he did not discover the Australian east coast, New Zealand or many Pacific islands as there were already indigenous people living in Australia and on most Pacific islands.
