Photographer's Note

Another photo from my 40+ year old archives. It shows the gates to the British prison and I thought it was worth recording because normally the gates would be wide open, (well, they were most other times I went past). Even when closed it would be possible to escape through the gap at the bottom. It's fair to say not many prisoners did abscond and most of those who did returned of their own volition.
The French had their own prison elsewhere.
