Photographer's Note
A view across Lake Mathieson, just outside the town of Fox Glacier, on a still day in summer.
The walk around the lake takes about an hour, and there are three of four stops along the way offering photographers an opportunity for that "picture postcard" image that you see on the covers of so many tourist books on New Zealand.
It certainly was a beautiful spot, and we were once again lucky with the weather.

Hi Simon,
Your photograph immediately reminds me of a similar image I had captured at Deoriyatal in the Himalayas. Although its almost half a globe away, the similarities are startling.
Excellent image, very well captured.
Thanks for sharing

Wow, beautiful, I walked around the lake after the chopper ride, and the wind had kicked up by then so I could not get these clear reflections, excellent timing.

lovely pic simon, daytime light offers amazing colors here. shame of the wind that creates the slightest of ripples. Nothing you can do about that .. but great shot anyway!

Oh, this is really good. The reflections on the lake are excellent, the whole area is really stunning. Your composition - with the trees framing the shot on the right - works very well, the horizon line being perfectly placed two-thirds of the way down. Good colours too.

Hello Simon ,
l'image parfaite sur le plan de l'exposition, du cadrage et du POV.
Les reflets sont superbes.
On voit le travail mais aussi les aléas du polarisant.

Hi Simon. A nice picture full of light and lovely shades of blue. When I visited the spot, I waited and waited for the water to grow still so that I could marvel at the famed reflection. It was a fruitless wait as half of the lake was affected by the breeze. You have done well. Regards, Klaudio

Hi Simon,
It's a stunning walk around this lake, and this photo certainly captures the beauty here. I like the way the trees sweep in from the right and seems to be balanced by the cloudy sky on the left.
Great work!

Steve

Hello Simon
If this spot is so famous that you can see in in many toursit-books, it surprises me that there so sign of human presence.
It must feel great to see allthis in reality.
And your picture is more than postcard quality!

Hi Simon!
I've been to Lake Matheson and totally love it there!
And I say this is a perfect foto of the Lake and its surroundings, since its famous for it's mirror effect which u did very well capturing it.
Was it hard in summer though? coz the sun in Nz seems very harsh, and I think it's quite hard to capture the snow peaks as well.I think u did a great job(judging the sunlight) and used ur Cir Pol well here.
NZ is truely a beautiful place, and thanks for sharing so people can see before they travel! =^.~=
