Photographer's Note
A view from the road to Mt Cook Village in the heart of the Southern Alps. A great wall of ice presents itself as you drive towards the village, and it looks pretty spectacular on a sunny morning like this. On the left is Mt Sefton (3151 metres), and the pointed peak near the centre is the Footstool (2764 metres). The small hills in the middle ground are the terminal moraine of the Mueller Glacier.
I took this photo (and some others) through the windscreen of a moving car (or automobile if you're American). It shows how good cameras are these days - I didn't think the photos would come out as good as this.

Hello Vincent, a classic view of the mountains with the empty wide open road ahead of you.
Taken through a windscreen? No-one would have known if you hadn't said, and moving too.
It is hard to decide where the road goes next, as the mountains are an enormous rocky barrier in front of you.
Lovely shot.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Vince,
It is wonderful how this flat road in a rather narrow valley leads to the mountains that suddenly seem to rise very high.
Fortunately, there is only one small cloud on the left while the impressive view remains unobstructed.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Vince
A great one of Mt Cook and especially good for having been taken from a moving car. I hope the weather stayed fine when you got up closer. The first time I went there the clouds were down to knee high but the second time it was gloriously fine.
cheers

Hi Vincent,
Superb landscape where flat valley ends on a steep wall of snow covered mountains. Darkish exposure shows all contrasts well. Road makes strong perspective.

Hi Vincent,
Indeed I never manage to capture a good photo from a car. May be because it is pointing ahead the movement is less pronounced as if you were taking photo sideway.
Excellent effect indeed. The colors are stunning. The aspect of the road adds a nice touch. Snow covered mountains so impresssive. WE also learn the in New Zeland people drive on the wrogn side of the road :)
Great work,

Hello Vincent,
There is such a sense of vast space in this scene. It also look like you'll drive straight up to the mountain and then go no further. :-) With the insane amount of traffic here in NYC, it's impressive for me to see such an empty stretch of road!

Hi Vincent.
Impressive composition, with these high mountains covered with snow, the straight of the road gives a superb perspective, as it is lost in the distance on the slopes of the first mountains, the clean blue sky is fantastic.
Great sharpness, lightness and color.
A very beautiful photo. I like it.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
