Photographer's Note

Hi all.
This photo was taken last weekend at Lake Taupo where I was fishing with friends. Taken at first light just as we were heading out for a mornings fishing, we had a heavy frost and fog patches on the lake but beautiful weather followed during the day.

Fishing on Lake Taupo generally takes on one of two forms, fly fishing or trolling. Fly fishing is the art of casting artificial lures with a long flexible rod. Trolling is a little more sedate in that it involves towing lures behind a boat as in the photo.
All flies and lures are made to represent some form of trout food usually an insect or small fish but even trout eggs are mimicked.
The minimum size of trout allowed to be taken from Lake Taupo is 400mm and the bag limit is three fish per day. Generally trout caught are between 1.5 and 3 Lbs but can get to double figures (10 Lbs) or more if you’re lucky.

Enjoy, Paul.
