Photographer's Note

Fremantle's Maritime Museum is a place well worth a visit. Not only because it hosts Australia's most popular sailing boat that won the America cup in 1988, but because the museum commemorates the history of all the immigrants who arrived in Western Australia.
Imagine how they felt after having left their home country (mostly Europe) and having travelled for months over the Ocean. Fremantle at that time was not as it is today and had not much to offer.
Testimonials indicate that most immigrants felt as if they had reached the end of the world!
Soon they would realise that it was a new start and a world of fantastic opportunities... but they will never forget their first impressions when they put their feet on this quay.
