It was autumn for our visit to Girraween NP but there were quite a few banksias in flower although not as many as there should have been due to the serious bush fires in 2019. The fires, however, are what triggers the germination of banksia seeds so periodic fires are necessary for them so there were plenty of signs of new plants.
Here are the flowers of 2 different species.
Banksias are found in Australia, Papua New Guinea and the far east of Indonesia only. There are 170 species.
