I'm just back from a great 2 weeks exploring outback New South Wales in areas with no mobile phone reception and no Wi-Fi. Most of the time was spent on what is called the Darling River Run along Australia's longest river. If you look on a Google map we started the run at Brewarrina in the north and finished near Pooncarie in the south.
Most of the roads were dirt with this one being typical. Many of the roads are closed after rain and rain it did one day so we had to make a couple of long detours. The car is extremely dusty from the trip.
That metal grating is a cattle grid to stop cattle and sheep escaping from the huge paddocks as many public roads go through private property.
