Photographer's Note

An emu wandering through long grass in Mungo NP.
Emus are Australia's largest bird and can be found over much of Australia's mainland but these days mostly inland.
They are good drought survivors and don't need to drink or eat as often as other animals. They are amazing to watch when they run as they can reach 50 km/h.
They have a big beak but are pretty harmless although my son did get a good peck once when he got a bit close to one.
You will notice that they do have a slightly mad look in the eye.

Best in the large view.
