Photographer's Note

50 years ago many of us watched Apollo 11 landing on the moon.
Here is one of the Australian connections for that momentous event from my archives taken on a vist to the area in 1999.
Because of the time and position of the moon landing site the initial tracking had to be done by this dish at Tidbinbilla and another at nearby Honeysuckle Creek (now dismantled) so what the world watched came via these dishes outside Canberra.
