Photographer's Note

Another picture from a trip to Tasmania,

Fossil Cove is South of Hobart head towards Kingston and on to Blackmans Bay, continue through Blackman's Bay and onto Tinderbox Road, Fossil Cove Road is passed on the left.
Just a short walk down some steep steps through light bushland to a little cove with a fascinating fossil-filled wave-cut platform and views across to Iron Pot lighthouse.

The small cove has a variety of interesting features. To the north is a natural arch, cut by the action of the sea into the Permian sedimentary rocks. There are numerous interesting fossils to be found amongst the rubble found along the foreshore,an image of some can be seen in the WS.

The cove can be safely explored only at
low tide.
