Photographer's Note

A spectacular sight in the desert, the red earth contrasting with the emerald green of the water,Dales Gorge is situated in Karajini National Park, about 1500km n/ne of Perth by road, and is one of the highlights of a couple of days camping nearby in the caravan park. Day temperatures often exceed 40c in this area so get up early and complete your bushwalks before say 10am carry plenty of water in your vehicle, a minimum of 5 litres ( to drink )per person per day of your proposed stay, the main roads are sealed and cars are frequent, but if you go on a gravel backroad and your car breaks down, stay with it and if necessary burn your spare tyre , the black smoke can be seen for many kilometers and will attract attention.
We have travelled and survived into our late sixties by adhering to a few basic rules which can be obtained at any police station in the outback, call in to get the advice and let them know where you plan to be in the next few days and get to enjoy the beauty of the bush.
