Photographer's Note

Original railway lines heading back to town from the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct, which was the original Port on Babbage Island, Carnarvon, Western Australia. I enjoy taking shots during full-sun to bring out the rich natural colours of the scene.

The Carnarvon Heritage Precinct comprises the One Mile Jetty, Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage Museum, the Carnarvon Tramway and a memorial to Australia's worst naval disaster, the sinking of the HMAS Sydney. All are remaining elements of the port of Carnarvon, which was initially constructed in 1897. Attractions include walking the jetty, riding the Ocean Tramway for one kilometre on the jetty, exploration of the wetlands adjacent to the jetty, riding the Kimberley Steam Locomotive, or Banana Clipper Diesel Locomotive between town and the precinct (two and a half kilometres) with audio, and a tour visiting the Lighthouse Museum.
