Photographer's Note
Murphy's Haystacks are a collection of huge and interestingly shaped granite boulders on a hilltop inland from Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula.
Better in the large view.

Hello Ian
Good composition using the principle of three with the 3 lichen encrusted granite boulders. Reminds me of Girraween, Tenterfield or Glen Innes on the New England Tableland. I like the glimpses of the trees framed by the big granite rocks. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
They don't really make me think of haystacks, but these strange rocks are beautifully shaped and just as interesting as anything found in an average sculpture garden. Isn't that a large tortoise in the middle?

Gert

Hi Ian,
extraordinary rock formations and colors too.
Nice natural scene.
The red colors adds a feeling of rust and it makes me feel these are some old used rusted machinery parts disposed there.
I suppose that would need to be a giant extraterrestrial flying ship...
Great reportage,
M

Hello Ian,
The more we share photographs from around the world, the more we realise just how strange things can be!
I wonder if these curious stones were revered or worshipped by the Indigenous Peoples for they do seem to have a curious format, almost as if they are mushrooming out of the earth.
You have shown them with fine clarity for us to observe and wonder about them!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)
