Cahills Crossing is the only road access the East Alligator River from Kakadu NP into the 97,000 sq km Aboriginal lands of Arnhem Land. Permission is needed to enter - that's what the sign is about.
As you can see from this photo getting across the crossing can be hazardous. This vehicle didn't make when the water was high.
There is another danger here as well - crocodiles! There were no crocodiles there when we went out to the crossing.
