Photographer's Note

Already making these photo I was thinking about Gert.
So directly and not ironical, I dedicate this short series for Gert.
In our free day in Darwin, we wanted to see the Botanical Garden and then to swim in a lake near the sea. The lake is safe, without crocs and box jelly-fish. But the Garden was closed and it was so hot, about 35 deg and humid, that I was like a red monster (some people saw me in FB) and we went back. And somewhere we saw these people playing bowls. I gave no idea what it is about, and how they can energy to play in such a hot day. But I found it quite fascinating, rather lazy sport, and made some shots.

Sport is an important part of the culture in Australia, with a long history in the country dating back to the pre-colonial period. Early sports that were played included cricket, horse racing, Australian rules football and rugby.
Australia has hosted the Olympics twice, in 1956 in Melbourne and in 2000 in Sydney. These were the first Games hosted in the southern hemisphere.

Total achievement:
gold 138 silver 153 bronze 177 rank 11.
Not bad for a country with 23 million inhabitants :)
