Photographer's Note
First of all I really need to thanks, Romain (Green) a Member who told us what this is called with a very informative note. Therefore, I've quoted what he said here:
"This is call Capoeira. It is true to call it a martial art but it is also a dance.
The Capoeira take it roots from Africa. Its origins take place in Brasil with arrival of the first Bantu slave. Capoeira has devellopped a technique that merged ancestral rythm and physical fighting. It was disguised as a dance when portuguese slaveholder forbiden any the practice of any kind of martial art among the slaves. Those who will go against that rule were killed immediatly just like one would kill a dog infected by rabies.
Slave rebel would organise fight in an open area in the deep forest of Brasil. In this area would grow some grass called capoeira." -- Romain Donadio (green)

Din great! I like the action of the two men. The old houses in the background are a well chosen detail. Good B & W and very sharp!! Well seen.

Great angle and very series shot the B&W color made it like a shot from an old movie like the position of that man in the right he looks that he will go and chair in that fight.

Din, I already recognized from the thumbnail that this would be another one from the place where you took "the shot with the shadow". The setting with the building and your choice of b&w is the same, the scene is a different one but again very interesting. Again the shot has fine details and freezes the action at a very interesting split of a second, with the two guys assuming great postures. Another good shot from you.

Very beautiful with the usage of a wide angle lens. It keeps the dynamic of the dancers. B&W is the perfect choice I think because it gives a nice contrast and focus on the main subjects.

Actually, having a sencond thought, wha t I felt strange about was the fact there are many caucasians playing the Capoeira. Even being a wide spread sport in Brazil, most of players are still blacks, in Brazil! Great shot!

it´s interesting to see capoeira at the other side of the globe!
te member kmolz lives 500km from me, in Rio de Janeiro, but i can assure you here in São Paulo many many people play it. even at some schools, kids begin at the age of 8 or 9, in their PE classes.
thanks for sharing ;)

I think this movement is the final part of a "Meia Lua de Frente" from the Regional Capoeira style. It's a wide high kick with a half circle motion like an "half moon" (meia lua in portuguese).
This shot is less dynamic than the first one, still I like the angle and the choixe of BW.

Hi,
I created a theme on Capoeira.
It's on Treklens.
I would like you to add your pictures if you like.
