Photographer's Note
Very early, one cold morning in June from the Mount Buffalo Chalet. I've posted a couple from this series already, but really liked the effect of the mists and distance on these hills - almost like a watercolour.

Hi Simon. People are a mystery. I wonder why this photo has been ignored so far. I love the monochromatic result and the subtle difference in tone as the mountain ranges recede in thee distance. Reminds me of the Chinese ink paintings in its subtlety. Well done. Klaudio

Greetings Simon. A classic of its type, and criminally under-appreciated. Absolutely stunning image, lovely tonal colouring, sepia but not quite. I agree with Klaudio, it's a mystery to me too. Wonderful shot.

Andrew

Hello Simon, I quite like this picture. I like the subtle muted tones in that layered effect transitioning through the tones. The mist just adds to the effect. A serene scene.

This has to be one of the best adding-depth-through-layering shots that I have ever seen!
Like it a lot, Simon.

Very special, the gradation is at the same time uncanny, and so harmonious, The tones respond perfectly to each other, which has the result of drawing us inside, mesmerized, as if ready to fly over it.

Hi Simon
This is a very nice shot you got here!
You managed to cast a great depth into your picture with all those hills in different shades of brown on different layers.
Although there are no real details to be seen, I can imagine the beauty of this place in the early morning.
I just wonder, if you used a filter to create this effect?

Hi Simon,
Fantastic range of gray and sepia tones that are degraded towards the depth of the horizon. The effect of the mist is really splendid, and you have caught it skillfully.
I like, it is an excellent photo.

Hi Simon. Great use of a classic composition. You have captured the ridgelines perfectly to show a depth that your telephoto lens tries to compress. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Simon,
Delicate grey tones organized in kind of algorythm which give the photo a superrealistic impression. Anyway, a pleasure for the eye.

I was up there a couple of weeks ago and I wondered how it would look in the early morning light. Well you have answered my question, this is a stunning shot. The compression you are getting at 300mm is certainly giving you some beautiful layering in this one. Congratulations.
I hope they re-open the Chalet one day a pitty to see the icon shutdown indefinitely!

Yo Simon,
I liked the other shot with the look out but this is what I really wanted to see... excellent lines and tones. The way the ridges spring up in well defined lines and create an horizontal pattern across the frame. Naturally graphical...

Some painters and designers try really hard to achieve this effect but the result is usually lacking in subtlety which this certainly isn't. Yet another reminder what rewards await for those of us who can drag ourselves from between the sheets early enough....

Hello Simon,
Good abstract composition through multi mountain layers. The tone and bit of blur well suits the mood of this general panoramic shot.
