Photographer's Note

The land for the gardens was purchased by scientist and businessman Alfred Nicholas (and his brother George) in 1929. Alfred was specifically traveling around outer Melbourne selecting the trees and plants for his estate. The gardens were completed only after his death being private property for some time and eventually given to public in 1965.
Currently the gardens are one of the most magnificent places of Mount Dandenong region.
