Photographer's Note
This shot may have been an uninteresting shot of a couple of unremarkable seabirds (Crested Terns - I think) except that both of them happen to have just pulled fish from the sea.
It was taken from the Jetty at Bicheno. There is a small fleet of fishing boats there and hundreds of these birds nesting on an island maybe 50m off shore

Really a nice capture. Both birds with a fish.
Technically perfect.

Hi Stephen,
now this is one excellent shot. It looks like a mirror or reflection of one bird with a fish, but wings nicelly show that we are looking at two birds of same appearance with same catch of the day. With great placement of this motive to the right you give them enough space to create this freedom feeling of birds being kings of the sky with great moving impact. Excellent!
Kind regards,
Jeri

Hi Steve,
This is great! For a while I couldn't believe it was for real, the symmetry is so perfect. Even the fish seem to be mirror images! The framing works very well and the lines in the water create a strong sense of motion, as though it's slightly panned (though I don't expect you'd get much of a panning effect at 1/500 s). The focus is pin-sharp exactly where you need it, on the head of the nearer tern and the fish.
Very nicely done.
Cheers,
John
