Photographer's Note

Please open in a new tab for the large version.
I'm now leaving behind the rain forest of Lamington NP and moving west to the distant ranges that appeared in a couple of of my recent photos.
Girraween NP lies in what is called the Granite Belt of Queensland - a highland area of about 800 m above sea level and higher.
Not surprisingly granite figures big in Girraween NP with lots of very prominent rock formations and peaks of exposed granite. It is an ancient volcanic area.
For starters here is a very peaceful scene of exposed granite lining Bald Rock Creek.
