Temora is a prosperous town a bit over 400 km west of Sydney. It is the centre of a rich farming region that produces wheat, canola and wool.
Its period of early growth was in the second half of the 19th century and that was driven by a gold mining rush.
This photo shows a row of some of the grand old buildings in the main street.
Temora holds special memories for me as it was where I lived for my first full time job as a teacher.
The school that I taught at was a 1 teacher school 20 km out of town. I was just 19 when I started there. You can see a photo of the school as it was in 1966 in the workshop. Also in the workshop is a photo of the 13 pupils at the school in 1966.
