Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in new tabs.
I live about 110 km from Sydney and hadn't been into central Sydney for over a year. Recently we caught the train in for the day to visit the Art Gallery of NSW to view 2 good exhibitions.
My 2 photos today feature work by the Australian (from 1934)/American modernist sculptor Margel Hinder (1905 New York - 1995 Sydney) taken at a retrospective of her work. The 2 works in the main photo were perfectly hung and lit so that the sculpture was repeated on the wall.
In the workshop is another striking work of hers.

Hello Ian,
A good study of light an shadow. Excellent colour and saturation with superb sharpness. From the thumbnail the large circular orange areas reminded me of Halloween pumpkins. Tfs!

Hi Ian
Interesting capture and a wonderful way to transform the exhibits into something artistically special with the projected shadows. You coped the low light condition very well
Best regards

Hi Ian,
My 8 year old daughter makes a lot of similar arts and crafts.
I wonder what makes someone to become a recognized and well paid artist. There must be a moment in their career when may be they convince a museum to make exhibition of their works or somebody buys their first work.
Interesting reportage, showing such a different aspect of Australia in comparison to your usual photos. I think I prefer nature though.
Very well done,
M

Hello Ian,
I wasn't familiar with this artist, but these sculptures are quite ingeniously designed, and the lighting has a smart effect. The photos are well taken.

Hello Ian,
I could not help but like these. I find myself fascinated by shadows and shadow patterns and loved to make sculptures like this (though obviously not as good) with the children in school. It's a remarkably easy way to show positive and negative in a very artistic way!
Lovely sharp and well presented photographs.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
I appreciate the reflections of the artworks. The point of view is showing the details of the sculptures. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice dya.

interesting artwork and very nicely captured as individual images but also they work here as a duo. Same lighting and same colours, Nice play with light and shadows.

Hello Ian, three imaginative works of art.
The two that we see in the main post are well taken, so that the shadows are a key part of the presentation.
The yellow light catches the eye too.
I hadn’t herd of this artist before, thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ian,
This is it!
Now I know what to do if I have a bare living room.....
playing with 'shadow & Light'.
Fine intriguing work of modern art - simply simplistic.
Another interesting work of hers in the WS. But I prefer the hung ones and the use of golden light.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of art.
