Photographer's Note

ENGLISH: This is one of my favourite buildings in Sydney, the Grace Building, situated on the corner of King and York Streets in the Central Business District. It is diagonally opposite from where I took my previous photo. Designed by Morrow & Gordon and built by Kell & Rigby during the 1920s, it was to be the headquarters of Grace Brothers' Department Store. It is built in the neo-Gothic style and the interior has now been restored to its former Art Deco glory. During World War Two, it was requisitioned by the government and used as General MacArthur's Pacific HQ. It was listed on the National Heritage Register in 1997 and sadly, was purchased by a Malaysian consortium in 1995. Since 1997, it has operated as a hotel, The Grace. To the left and right of the Grace Building, you can see small parts of the Forbes and CBD Hotels. If you look really closely at these dens of iniquity, you can see parts of my liver, where I spent my misspent youth.

As in a previous photo of St John's Glebe, I have used a ten-stop filter to get the effect of the sky.
