Photographer's Note
Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre on Bennelong Point in Sydney.
The lady in red was a bonus.

Hi,
it's unusual to see so close views of this monument, this is already a plus of this capture, I also like the inclusion of the red dressed women.
Compliments!

Hi Leslie
I agree with Girogimer, it is unusual to se close views of this building, so that is kind of refreshing. Interesting to see how the light plays with the pattern on the roof. I like the inclusion of the woman i red, and the way her legs are corresponding to the angles on the building. Well done! TFS. Have a great weekend.

Hi Leslie.
I haven't seen a shot from this angle before, so that makes the shot interesting even without the benefit of the ladies entering the scene. You timed it so well, perhaps accidentally, but it sure makes all the difference, and also helps to appreciate the scale. Nice one!
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Leslie
The lady in red, well located, makes the picture, with a splendid building background.
Good photograph eye and brain!
Cheers

Hello Leslie,
Yes, I agree: the Lady in Red is definitely a bonus!
This is a fabulously clear and sharp picture with lots of impact. The colours, exposure and contrasts are just perfect. I like it a lot.
The composition is good too even although it doesn't really comply with the Rule of Thirds which my friend Peter Geldart (graffer) has discussed so much in his wonderful Composition Analysis Workshop Theme which is very well worth looking at - I cannot recommend that too highly.
Anyway, Leslie, that was just a little comment and not a criticism at all. I like this picture very much.
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Leslie,
The Opera House is a stunning building but seems almost 'new' from this angle! Excellent clarity and control of the light, which helps to emphasise the contours.
The lady is certainly a bonus, quite well positioned, and adding interest, colour and scale to your shot.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Leslie,
John [tyro] has kindly mentioned my composition analysis workshops in his critique, so I thought I might run this superb picture of yours through my usual routine. However, I now realise that you have not chosen the option of allowing workshops on your images. If you would like to enable this, I will post my WS diagrammatic analysis for you.
There is marvellous strength in this composition. The rule of thirds does indeed come into play here. That point where four different curves in the architecture meet the sky, lies very close to an intersection of thirds lines [also sometimes called a power point].
However, the major element I see here - in a structure where curves are dominant - is a very dynamic triangle which starts from the lower left corner, where the lady and her companion are striding out in step across the picture.
There are so many other geometric forms of this wonderful building that are beautifully shown in detail in the light and shaded areas of your image.
A very fine photograph.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi Les,
An interesting composition: the funny thing is that there are two people in the lower right - each walking in phase. Also, it's interesting that their shadows are practically vertically below them: it reminds the viewer that this January shot is in Australia. Of course, so does the famous opera house in the background!
cheers,

Hi Leslie
In my 2011 quest to learn about the world, I feel I must look for overseas pictures, which is hard in your gallery as I pass over so many great British photographs ! But this little gem jumped out at me, a very unusual view of a very well known landmark. I like the clarity, and the crispness of the whole, and as you say, the lady in red completes it marvellously.
regards Martin
