Photographer's Note
With summer weather approaching, surfing is more in everyone's mind. Here at Palm Beach, one of Sydney's 45 city beaches, a single surfer enjoys the solid swell and lack of crowds.
A re-cropped version of an earlier shot.

Nice One. I like that the surfers appears very dark - almost like a shawdow.

Pardon my ignorance but isn't it Winter Down Under? Very nice surfing action captured but you've lost some detail in the highlight and shadow areas. Try experimenting with bracketing to avoid this.

Hi Murray. You are right about summer coming or just spring in our case, the weather has certainly turned for the better in the last week or so. ;-) Excellent action shot. Good handling of light, the backlight adds a nice graphic touch to the scene. Well captured and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Murray,
Good to be back, and see your shots again, after I've been away. I hope your travels have been wonderful during the last few months. This is a great image of one of Australia's most loved past times. The position of the surfer is excellent, balancing the image well, not central, it gives a sweeping feel to the photo. The brooding clouds in the background are a great natural frame to the lighter, aqua water and reflective sheeen. A super shot!
TFS! Matt

Hi Murray
A superb capture of the solitary surfer, with good sharpness, colour & framing. I like the flattened perspective from the zoom. Nice backlighting on the waves. Tfs!

Hi Murray,
The capture of the power of the sea and of the action of the surfer are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the surfer moving on the water. The light is creating reflections on the water. Have a nice day.

Hi Murray
You've perfectly caught the surfer, and we feel the speed. I really like the foam at the top of the wave, and in the sky. Brilliant colours
Great
