Photographer's Note

On our recent trip to revisit the Darling River in outback New South Wales our first stop overnight was in the central west at Parkes, the home of a famous radio telescope. It achieved fame as one of the 3 receivers for video for the Apollo 11 landing on the moon in 1969 (2 in Australia, 1 in California).
It later achieved more fame starring in the movie "The Dish" about that landing.
The reception power has been massively upgraded over the years to keep it as an important research telescope.
