Photographer's Note
A pair of emus, Australia's large flightless birds, wandering around the estate (Retford Park) of my last 2 postings. They are behind a fence because emus can be a little aggressive and their beaks are large and pecks can hurt a bit.
With a massive drought covering much of eastern Australia groups of emus have been wandering into outback towns looking for food and water.
Best in the large view.

Hello Ian,
The emu is perhaps the most common crossword bird in Sweden (and probably elsewhere), but we don't see them often. They look quite impressive, and rather strange with their thick plumage, but even more impressive is the sharpness of the photo.

Gert

Great looking birds these emus. There is an ad company in the US that uses them. I very much like the contrasting colors between the birds and the vegetation. TFS David

Hello Ian,
The showers and storms we were supposed to get yesterday in SEQ did not eventuate but I am glad that large parts of NSW got steady, soaking rain. Only places I have seen emus in the wild are Wilsons Prom in Vic & Carnarvon Gorge in Qld. Tfs!
