Photographer's Note
The Murrumbidgee river flows from the Snowy Mountains down into the Murray river and then into the sea in South Australia. The distance from this point on the river to the sea is 1360km.
This photo was taken near the Yanga shearing shed outside Balranald. Paddle steamers used to come to this point to pick up wool bales.
The trees are River Red Gums (a eucalypt). The paddle steamers used to use wood gathered along the rivers to use for fuel. The timber is extremely hard and durable and was popular for building shearing sheds. I have a dining table made from timber recycled from an old shearing shed - it is mighty heavy.
Do view the large version.

Hello Ian
Today this might be a luxury cruise as it meanders down the river. I would not mind taking such a trip. Very beautiful. Nice capture and note.

Hello Ian
Fantastic reflections in the placid waters of the river, with excellent sharpness, colour and saturation. I like the alternating horizontal streaks of shadow and sunlight across the water. Tfs!

Hi Ian,
the colors indicate a bit harsh light as if in the middle of the day or simply as often in winter.
Nevertheless, this natural scene is so beautiful.
Most of all perfectly framed with the exotic for me trees on both sides. They add so much interest with their interesting trunks. Also the surface of the river has some interesting pattern as if the play of the light and shadow with some reflections coming through as well.
Brilliant effect, excellent work,
M
